Submit now for 2015

We hope everyone’s been enjoying the third issue! New content will be appearing very soon under our new publication model, wherein new research and book reviews are published as soon as they’ve gone through the peer-review and revision process. (Articles will still be compiled into complete issues at the end of each calendar year.)

Have you considered joining in the correspondence yourself? We’re always interested in well-researched submissions (5,000-10,000 words) and also accept unsolicited reviews of academic work or re-releases of primary materials connected to the Western esoteric traditions. Thanks to our new publication model, the faster you submit articles to submissions@correspondencesjournal.com or book reviews to egil.asprem@correspondencesjournal.com, the faster your thoughts and research go live!

New server

We recently moved our webpage to a new server, which in the long run will make it easier to customise our page and make our articles more accessible in different databases and search engines. In the coming weeks you may experience problems with our webpage, and we apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause you. If you notice something that doesn’t belong or receive an error message when browsing our journal, please do not hesitate sending an e-mail to our webmaster at jimmy.elwing@correspondencesjournal.com. Thank you.

New pdf version of issue 2.2

Submit for C3!

The second issue of Correspondences will be out very soon! While you wait you may want to start thinking about issue number 3. We’re always interested in high quality submissions (5,000-10,000 words) on subjects related to the academic study of Western esotericism, but we just wanted to let everyone know that those interested in publishing in issue 3 will need to be submit by 1 June 2014. We’re also accepting unsolicited book reviews. If you would like to query the editors before submitting, please contact Aren Roukema or Jimmy Elwing at submissions@correspondencesjournal.com. For book review queries, contact Egil Asprem at egil.asprem@correspondencesjournal.com.

New Book Reviews Editor!

There’s a new addition to the Correspondences family. No, Aren and Jimmy aren’t having a baby. Rather, we’re happy to announce that Dr. Egil Asprem of UC Santa Barbara will take on the position of Book Reviews Editor as of March 2014. Dr. Asprem recently completed doctoral research at the Centre for the History of Hermetic Philosophy and Related Currents at the University of Amsterdam, where his dissertation, entitled “The Problem of Disenchantment: Scientific Naturalism and Esoteric Discourse, 1900-1939,” earned him both the 2013 ESSWE PhD thesis prize and the Gerardus van der Leeuw prize, awarded by the Dutch Association for the Study of Religion (NGG). He was recently awarded the prestigious Veni and Rubicon awards by the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). We are excited to have Dr. Asprem aboard, and look forward to a more robust Reviews section than has previously been featured. Correspondences continues to accept unsolicited reviews, which can be submitted by email to egil.asprem@correspondencesjournal.com.

Correspondences recently acquired an ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) and as a result we had to replace the files of issue 1, no. 1 (2013). If you have linked our PDFs from your webpage or blog, please note that you will have to change the url to the new one.  In the coming months we will make Correspondences available in scholarly databases and search engines, and we’ll keep you posted about our progress here and on our Facebook page
